Coconut Oil - Hair Benefits & How I Use It

Everyone's desire is to have nice healthy, shiny hair, whether it's women or men. Most people think that the way to this is through expensive shampoos, conditioners or other products. What they don't realise is that all of these things are chemically processed and are not as beneficial for hair compared to natural things. One of those is coconut oil.

Coconut oil has really good benefits for your hair. It is inexpensive and lasts a good amount of time. On top of that all it's natural and does wonders for your hair. Here are some of the benefits when applied to hair:

promotes hair growth
makes your hair amazingly shiny
shields hair protein, which prevents your hair from getting damaged
seals in moisture
contains antibacterial and antifungal properties, thanks to those it helps curing dandruff
contains all nutrients like vitamin E, K and iron which are essential for hair
improves blood circulation
slows down hair loss
cheaper than any masks and conditioners

When buying a coconut oil, make sure you always purchase the 100% pure/virgin coconut oil. There are lots of them on the market and some only claim being pure, so make sure you buy it from the source that you trust. Another thing to keep in mind when buying one, it will not look like any normal oil, it will be in a jar or tin and it will be very hard, almost like a candle wax. Make sure that lauric acid content is at least 40%.

Even though this process is not time consuming at all, before you do that, make sure you're only sitting at home and don't have to go anywhere in public, otherwise people might think you don't wash your hair

Step 1 : as it is a solid oil, we want to melt it first. What I do most of the time is take two bowls one rather large and one small one. Pour about 1-2 cups of hot water into the larger bowl. Now with a tea spoon measure how much of the oil will you need (I have medium length fine hair and I use about 1 and a half teaspoons of coconut oil), and place that into the small bowl. Now take small bowl and place it into the hot water, making sure the water doesn't get into the oil. Another alternative to that is to warm the amount of oil you need in microwave, but I wouldn't recommend that as this can damage and alter the chemical structure of the oil. I use microwave from time to time when I feel a bit lazy…

Step 2: You can use this for damp or dry hair. If you prefer to use it on damp hair use warm water to dampen your hair.

Step 3: Now dip your fingers into now melted coconut oil, rub it into your hands and starting from the scalp, start massaging the oil into the roots of your hair. Because coconut oil improves the blood circulation and massaging the scalp does too, it's meant to be really good for the hair growth.

Step 4: Now this is the part where I usually mix my pure argan oil (about 3-5 drops) into the coconut oil, for the lengths and ends of my hair. You can totally just use coconut oil for this part, I just prefer to use argan oil with it, as this has some really good benefits for the hair too. Make sure all your hair is lathered with the oil. Leave the oil in for at least 2 hours, the longer you leave it, the more conditioned your hair will be. For best results I leave it in overnight, just wrap it in an old t-shirt or shower cap, or something that'll be comfortable to have on your head while sleeping.

Step 5: Wash your hair with your favorite shampoo, you should always use a natural shampoo or sulphate free shampoo as these don't strip your hair from natural oils as much. I use Argania range moisture repair shampoo !REVIEW HERE!. I do have to wash my hair twice to get rid of all the coconut oil in my hair, and then condition it as I would normally.

I do this at least once to twice a week depending on how busy I am in the evenings, but I do see a difference everytime I pamper my hair with the good old coconut oil. I hope these few tips have been helpful to you guys, let me know if you have tried it and what were your results.

Room Decor Inspiration

Hi guys

So i have put together an article that will/could help you with decorating the room. I know some of you may have seen these pictures all over the internet, but as i want to re-decorate my room as soon as we move, what a better place to have all the pictures and inspirations all together than a blog post :)

I will (i want to anyway) decorate my room into the vintage-y kind of bedroom, also i will not be spending hundreds and hundreds of pounds on new furniture and decorations, as there is so many things you can do to your old furniture, but i will probably do a post of that some other time, once i'm actually doing it.
